Iced Strawberry Lemonade

 Slushy Strawberry Lemonade
source: http://blogs.babble.com/family-kitchen/2011/05/18/iced-strawberry-lemonade/

10 strawberries
2/3 c sugar
4 whole lemons, with rinds cut off (only the flesh should be left)
3 c ice
1 1/2 c water

Cut the hull (the green part) off of the strawberries.  Place them in a blender with 1/3 c sugar, 1/2 c of ice, and 1/2 c of water.  Pulverize!  You want the ice to turn into Slurpee texture.  Pour this into the bottom of four 8 oz glasses.

Rinse out the blender.  Place the flesh of the lemon, 2 1/2 c ice, and 1 c water in the blender and mix it up.  You've got to have a pretty powerful blender for this to work.  Again, you want the ice to be snow cone-esque.  Pour the lemon slush on top of the strawberry slush.

Sip.  Preferably on a hot summer day, by a pool, with a little paper umbrella sticking out of the side.
Sorry for the bad pictures.  My family was starving, and I can feel the heat of their glare when I'm trying to take the perfect picture instead of serving up a tasty meal.

Strawberry Lemon-Limeade

As I'm sitting here blogging, my husband is switching between "I am Legend," "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," and "Braveheart."  Great.  Now I'm going to have dreams about sword-wielding Zombies with Scottish accents and loin cloths trying to find the Holy Grail that is being protected by a group of underage wizards drinking pumpkin juice.  That oughtta make for some good dreaming tonight.

I'm sure if those zombies got a taste of this, they'd calm right down.  This may be one of the best lemonades I've ever had!  It does require a lot of juicing, so it'd be best if you have a juicer or something besides just your hands to get the jucie out.  I can't wait until BBQs this summer!  I'll be making this every time.  Thanks Lana for posting this.  You're amazing!

1 1/2 c sugar
1 1/2 c water
Ice
3 limes
5-6 large lemons
5 oz. frozen strawberries in a syrup, thawed

In a saucepan, combine the water and sugar.  Bring to a boil.
Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Turn off the heat and add four cups of ice cubes and stir.
Zest one lemon and one lime.
Juice them all.  You should end up with 1 1/4- 1 1/2 c juice.
Put the thawed strawberries in the bottom of a pitcher or large bowl.  Add the zest.
Pour in the juice from the lemons and limes.
Add the sugar-water mixture. Stir well.
Serve in a tall glass with ice, a straw, and garnish with a strawberry and lemon slice.  You'll be drooling after the first sip and will want more and more and more.

Strawberry Pineapple Slush

Have you fellow non-alcoholic drinkers looked upon the millions of slushy alcoholic concoctions and just wished that you could have something cold, slushy, and delicious without being from a convenience store?  Well, good news my friends, there are more than virgin pina coladas and virgin strawberry dacquiris in our line of sight.  Take this, for example.  It only calls for three ingredients, and it is glorious.  As an added bonus, it was the perfect pink drink for my Valentine's Day dinner.  As an added bonus, you will still be able to make logical choices and walk in a straight line after you drink it.  Although, you may do a little crazy dance out of sheer delight for having a pink, slushy drink topped with a fanned strawberry.

Strawberry Pineapple Slush
Source: Worldwide Ward Cookbook: Secret Recipes
servings: 4 1 1/2 c servings

5 oz. frozen strawberries in syrup
1/4 gallon (4 cups) pineapple Sherbet
1/3 of a 2 L bottle of Sprite or Cherry 7-up
4 Strawberries (optional)
sugar (optional)

Combine the frozen strawberries, sherbet, and Sprite in a blender and turn it on.  30 seconds later, you're good to go.  Easy!

If you'd like, make thin slices through the strawberries and gently fan them apart to garnish the top.

Also, you could do suagr-rimmed glasses, which I didn't think of until I already poured the stuff in.  To get a nice rim of sugar, prepare a bowl of water and a bowl of sugar.  Dip the glass into the water then into the sugar.

Pour the slush into the glasses and garnish with the strawberry.  Lovely!
Now all I need is this drink to accompany me on a cruise in the Mexican Riveria.  There, I will have shirtless, buff Latin heart-throbs fan me with palm leaves and convince me that I look great with a belly the size of a basketball. And one of them will be playing Latin guitar music like at the beginning of Desperado.  Perfect.

Brazilian Lemonade

First off, I know that I said I won't be posting again until July.  Well, after taking a couple weeks off, I feel a little empty.  I love to blog recipes, and I am still eating (since anorexia is not in my diet plan).  Here I am.  I obviously won't be posting many sweets (sniff, sniff), but I've got a few things that I would like to share with the world.

Now, this lemonade... I don't have a picture because we drank it so fast I could snap a picture in time.  This stuff is amazing.  Think of a glass- preferably a cool vintage glass with a picture of a llama etched onto it or something.  Now, fill that glass with love.  Fill it with glory.  Fill it with hope.  Fill it with happiness.  That is what the picture of this lemonade would look like.

It seems crazy, but you've got to try it!  I couldn't imagine anyone not liking this stuff.  It tastes like sweet and frothy limeade.  Sweet mercy!

Brazilian Lemonade
source: Our Best Bites website I also have it in the "Our Best Bites" cookbook, which is a fantastic cookbook if you're looking to buy a new one.  The website also gives step by step instructions and a wonderful picture.

1 c sugar
6 c cold water
4 limes- smooth, thin skin will be juicier and sweeter
6 T sweetened condensed milk

Mix the sugar and cold water.

Wash the skin of the limes with soap to remove the wax and any pesticides.  Trim off the ends of the limes.  Cut them in half.  Then cut them into fourths.  Each lime will be cut into 8 pieces.

Put half of the limes and half of the sugae water into the blender and pulse five times.  Place a strainer over a large bowl or pitcher and pour the lime/sugar water into bowl or pitcher.  Use a spatula to press any remaining juice through the mesh.

Repeat the process with the rest of the limes and sugar water.

Once you have all of it in the pitcher, add the sweetened condensed milk and stir to combine.

Serve in a large glass over ice.

I'm telling you!  You've got to try this.  It's fantastic.  I can't wait to make it for my next BBQ.  Moans and groans will fill the air.

Orange Lemon Limeade AKA Citrus Glory

Lemonade is awesome. Orange juice is great. Limeade is phenomenal. Well, what happens when you combine all three? You get what my husband calls "Citrus Glory" or "the sweet nectar of the Gods." This stuff is out of this world. The first time I made it, I couldn't believe how delicious it was. Everyone that tries it says that it is the best lemonade they've ever had. I'm going to have to agree with them! It costs a bit of money because you have to buy five lemons, five limes, and five oranges. However, it makes a gallon, and 6.00 a gallon is about what you'd be spending for good quality lemonade any way. My brother got me the coolest juicer for Christmas, and I used it for this. I'm going to have to upload a picture for you.

Here is the recipe... Brace yourself... I almost didn't post this because I like to be selfish with this recipe. It's so good, but I think every one needs to give this a try.
Orange-Lemon-Limade:
Source: Taste of Home "Grandma's Kitchen"

5 lemons
5 limes
5 oranges
1 1/2 - 2 c sugar
3 quarts of water

Put the water into a large pitcher. Juice the oranges, lemons, and limes. Pour the juice into the pitcher with the water. Add 1 1/2 c sugar. Stir to mix well. Taste it. You can add up to another 1/2 c of sugar if you'd like. I think I used about 1 3/4 c sugar, and it was perfect for me.

That's it! I'm telling you- This is so easy, and you will get so many compliments on it. This is the best for a BBQ, or for that matter, any time you eat- this will pair quite nicely with it. :)
