Toffee Chocolate Bars

These delicious bars have a shortbread-like base, a creamy sweetened condensed milk layer, a chocolate layer, and a toffee layer.  Do I really need to go on any more about these?  They were wonderful!  My husband took them around to some people, and everyone loved them.  They're tasty little morsels!

Base:
3/4 c butter
3/4 c brown sugar
1 1/2 c flour

Preheat oven to 350.

Cream these ingredients in a mixer and press into a 9x13 pan.

Bake for 20-25 minutes.  Take out and cool.

Filling:
10 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
2 T butter

Heat in a small saucepan over medium heat.  Once the butter is melted (5-10 minutes), pour it over the base.
Bake in the 350 degree oven for 12-15 minutes.

Topping:
1 3/4 c chocolate chips
1 1/3 c toffee pieces

Sprinkle on chocolate chips.  Bake for two minutes longer.  Remove from the oven and spread with a spatula to smooth them out.  Once they are nice and smooth, sprinkle the toffee pieces on top.  Lightly press them into the chocolate so they stick.

Cool.  Cut into squares.
