Chocolate Chip Cookies

I am always on the lookout for a new and delicious chocolate chip cookie recipe. I have made several that have been delicious, so I could easily stop there and quit trying new recipes. But- If I did that I would know somewhere in the back of my mind that somewhere there is a chocolate chip cookie recipe floating around the is the ultimate cookie recipe. This is a good one, but I think there's a better one out there somewhere. My husband did eat four of these within 30 minutes, so he didn't seem to mind them. Sometimes a warm chocolate chip cookie out of the oven and a cold glass of milk can solve any problem. Here's the picture and recipe:

According to the cookbook-

The Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie
1 c packed brown sugar
3/4 sugar
1 c butter (2 sticks)
1 t vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/2 c flour
3/4 t baking soda
3/4 t salt
12 oz chocolate chips
1 c chopped walnuts, optional

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Put the sugars and butter in a mixing bowl.

Beat on medium speed for 5 minutes or until fluffy.

Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Beat the flour, baking soda, and salt on low until well incorporated. Add in the chocolate chips and walnuts, if using. Drop about 1/4 c of dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake for 11-12 minutes.

They will look undercooked a bit, but do not bake them longer unless you like crunchy cookies. Here is picture of what it looks like when it is cooked for 11 minutes. The inside is slightly undercooked, but they will continue to cook a little longer on the cookie sheet, and once they cool, they will be perfectly chewy.

This recipe is from "Best Recipes of the Great Food Companies" compiled by Judith Anderson. This is a recipe from a package of Gold Medal Flour.
